In July 2018, I took part in the development of the youth corps - a joint project of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The project is being implemented by the Coordination Agency. The goal of the Zhas Project is to involve young people, especially socially vulnerable groups, in the life of the community, as well as develop life skills through a community service skills training program. My role (on a Pro Bono basis) was to provide an assessment of business plans for applications for grants of 1 million KZT, as an independent consultant to the Expert Commission. About 50 projects submitted by participants were analyzed according to the criteria of expediency, relevance, social significance, rechecking of financial indicators and other criteria. Based on the results of the analysis of business plans, it was understood that in the villages and remote points of our country, the issues of creating computer classes, assistance services for the elderly, the creation of autonomous mini-farms, and assistance to people with disabilities remain extremely important. There were also projects that did not inspire confidence, they had to be recommended for revision or refused further consideration.
